A Stroll Through Dorset's Deep Sea
CLIENT: Arts By The Sea and Nuala Clark from the BCP Council
This was a brief set for the Arts By The Sea Festival in Bournemouth. Our teams were given designated zones around Bournemouth in which we were tasked to design an urban intervention to strengthen the relationship between 15 to 18 year-olds and nature. Our intervention would appear in our 'zone' for the festival, if it were to be picked.
This is a group project which I did some personal development on following submission, and both versions of the project are one's I am incredibly proud of.
Sea Through's urban intervention is a tunnel going along the path of the lower Bournemouth Gardens, just before you reach the beach. The tunnel's purpose is to give users the opportunity to walk alongside Dorset's sea life, without supporting captivity. Audiences get to view species native to Dorset in their natural habitat, but the species remain unaffected by human interaction.
The Sea Through app features a 'scan mode' which allows users to learn more about the wildlife they might come across when talking a stroll around the beach or surrounding areas.
